ESCAPE FROM GRAD SCHOOL

family
I am married to Vivian Le Tran,
Media Coordinator for the
Los Angeles County Arts Commission,
and a writer and artist,
a lovely woman I sometimes deserve.

We are both incredibly fortunate
to have a beautiful son,
Minh Thành
(aka Thomas Joseph Murray V).

My father Tom and stepmother Andrea
live in Sarasota, Florida with numerous cats.

My mother Ellen Gardiner
amazingly still
lives in Springfield, Missouri
with one ferocious cat.

My sister and wonder twin
Gabrielle lives in Santa Cruz.

My aunt and uncle live
in Kansas City, Kansas.

And I have clans of relatives
back in the old homestead
of Western Pennsylvania,
and scattered
around the country.

friends
It was not without reservations
that I left Evolution Robotics,
where I worked with most amazing group
of brilliant, crazy,
and delightfully obscene people
I have been fortunate
enough to know.

I had feared
my social circles at school
would be consigned to giggling
23-year-olds,
but I have been pleasantly
surprised.
I've also consumed
more hefeweizen
at the Friday night Happy Hours
than I could have previously
imagined possible.

Also let me give
a shout out to my old friends
from the Idza,
from the grand old 4th Estate,
from the LBC crew,
and to my compadres,
oft neglected,
from the wild days at MU.

kitties
Sadly, or happily,
our lives are run
to a large extent
by two small, furry animals.
One is a refined princess,
Karma
(née Karma Chandresekar Kuptiramagupta),
the other is a big ferral pig,
oliphant, begemot,
Tai Chi
(née Tai Chi Wu Chi Sen).
Hilarious hijinks ensue.
Watch for their new sitcom next spring
on the WB.

Manchester Beach, Northern California
