English

In this exercise you will hear English words and short phrases. You should transcribe these as you hear them being pronounced, not as they are written, as you pronounce them, or as you think they should be pronounced. Be very careful not to be distracted by "standard pronunciation" or orthography. Do not forget to mark stress and syllabic consonants. For the words in Part 2, two different pronunciations are given. You should transcribe both versions. In Part 3, you hear short phrases or sentences. Note that sometimes there is no audible break between adjacent words.

Click on each word or phrase to hear it, and write your transcription next to it.
